Davy Jones, who rose to fame as a teen idol in the 1960s and 1970s as the lead singer of the pop-rock group The Monkees, has died at age 66.

“He died this morning of a heart attack in Indian Town, Florida,” his spokesperson said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com on Wednesday, February 29.

The British singer, who lived in the state in his later years, is survived by his third wife, Jessica, four daughters from two previous marriages and three grandchildren.

He resided in Hollywood, Florida and was rushed to a hospital after suffering his cardiac arrest.

“He passed next to his passions, his horses, and was one hour away from his wife, Jessica Pacheco-Jones,” his spokesperson said.

Batman star Christian Bale has clashed with security guards in China while trying to visit a blind activist living under house arrest.

The Hollywood actor was pushed and shoved after he travelled to a village in eastern China where self-taught lawyer Chen Guangcheng has lived in complete isolation for 15 months.

The Oscar winner had a CNN camera crew in tow at the time, and the channel has posted footage of a scuffle between Bale and the activist’s guards on its website.

Bale, who won a best supporting actor Oscar for last year’s The Fighter, travelled to Dongshigu village in Shandong province on Thursday where he and the crew were stopped by unidentified men.

The footage shows Bale asking to see Chen, with a CNN producer providing interpretation, but being ordered by one of the guards to leave.

Next months battle of the Sarah Palins on cable TV could be flippin awesome.

The director of a pro-Palin documentary has come out swinging against HBOs upcoming dramatization of the 2008 presidential campaign, “Game Change.” And on Tuesday, the scrappy Reelz network announced that his film on the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate, “The Undefeated,” will premiere March 11 — strategically placed just one day after “Game Change.”

appears to be a slam-dunk to win the 2012 Best Picture Oscar after all 30 experts on the top awards website GoldDerby.com chose the film.

Christopher Plummer () and Octavia Spencer () also appear to be clear favorites to pick up the Best Supporting Actor and Actress trophies, but the 30 ‘Oscarologists’ are split on the Best Actor and Actress honors.

The majority has picked Viola Davis () and Jean Dujardin (), but there are still experts pulling for Meryl Streep () and George Clooney ().

Meanwhile, Michel Hazanavicius is the clear favorite to lift the Best Director prize for and Woody Allen’s and Alexander Payne’s have emerged as the front runners in the Original and Adapted Screenplay categories.

Billy Crystal will host the 84th Academy Awards on Sunday in Hollywood.
