Garbage – “I Hate Love” (Preview)

Last month, we reported that 90s alt-pop all-stars Garbage were on their way back with the self-released Not Your Kind Of People, their first new album since 2005. Now theyve posted a quick minute-long preview for their new song I Hate Love a song title thats only appropriate from the group who made Only Happy When It Rains. Theyve set it to fan-made artwork inspired by that title; watch the video below.

At first blush, Netflix’s (NFLX) latest quarterly report didn’t look good, but investors were still able to find a bright side.

The Internet video company’s profit fell 14 percent from the year-ago period in spite of surging sales. Its cash-generating DVD business lost nearly 3 million subscribers. It projected a first-quarter loss that could be wider than analysts’ estimates. And the Los Gatos company said again it expects to post a full-year loss this year.

Yet Netflix’s stock surged in after-hours trading, rising as much as 16 percent, apparently because its quarter beat Wall Street’s modest expectations and the company posted a net gain in its overall subscriber base.

“The company has at least turned around its net subscriber growth in the U.S.,” said Cody Willard, a former fund manager and editor of Trading With Cody, a financial blog site.

Stephen Colbert and his late-night cohorts were back on the air Tuesday night, just in time for the Iowa caucuses.Going into yesterdays vote, Iowa voters had yet to settle on a favorite candidate, leaving the pundit class in a state of frenzied, semi-desperate speculation. But Colbert, for one, would not be cowed.

“I am still committed to making a definitive call on this race based on little or no evidence,” he defiantly announced on his show Tuesday night, taped a few hours before the caucus results began to trickle in.

Inspired by Paul the Octopus, who accurately predicted manyof the winners in the 2010 World Cup tournament before his death later that year (“Our thoughts and lemon wedges are with him,” Colbert joked), the host enlisted his very ownpsychic invertebrate, Megyn Shelly, “the Colbert Reports official prognosticating snail.”

Heres how it worked: Megyn was placed in a scale model of a Republican debate, where each candidate stood behind a podium carved from fresh cucumber.

So did Megan pick eventual winner, Mitt Romney?
