In celebration of National Grilled Cheese Month in April (yes, this is a thing,) The Counter offers five specialty sandwiches throughout the month, featuring a different creation each week. All are priced at $7.

The Greek (April 1 through April 7)  feta cheese, sharp provolone, cucumber, olives and spinach on Texas toast with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette

The Kicker (April 8 through April 14)  Tillamook cheddar, jalapeno jack, fresh jalapenos and tomatoes served on Texas toast with chipotle aioli

The Caprese (April 15 through April 21) mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, julienned basil and balsamic glaze served on Texas toast

Burger Friday: Marinas

When I saw the Quesadilla Burger on the menu at Marinas Mexican Restaurant & Bar in League City last year, I promised myself I’d come back to try it someday.

I was in the mood for enchiladas right then (they turned out to be rather good ones), but the idea of wrapping a burger patty in a flour tortilla with cheese and pico de gallo intrigued me. How would the packaging work out, I wondered; and how could you balance the ingredients to get a quesadilla effect?

I wanted to see whether this carefully landscaped, upscale suburban Mexican spot could pull it off.

Legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone has vowed never again to work with director Quentin Tarantino because he didn’t like the way his music was used inthe Oscar-nominated film .

The 84-year-old maestro has worked with the filmmaker on four projects, but has now slammed Tarantino for using music “without coherence”.

The man behind classic “Spaghetti Western” film themes including and gave Tarantino permission to use his in Tarantino’s new film, alongside three instrumental pieces.

Winchester High takes on ‘Wonka’

Winchester High School’s Drama Department will stage Roald Dahl’s musical “Willy Wonka Junior” 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the WHS auditorium.

The musical is based on the story of candy maker Willy Wonka and the contest that opens his secretive factory to a tour by five children and their chaperones.

Tickets, which are $7 for adults and $5 for students, are available through the high school, 200 W. Cross St. in Winchester, or at the door prior to each performance.

Cavey’s, 45 East Center Street, Manchester, brings back its Tuesday Night Wine Series starting March 5 at 6 p.m.

March’s events will take a tour of Italy. March 5′s tasting features special guest Jim Morrison of Artisan Wines, who will present his new favorites from various regions of the country. The menu includes burrata and giardiniera; seafood brodetto; grilled flatbread with ricotta, broccoli rabe and sausage; wild boar risotto and cannellini bean/escarole panna cotta.

March 12′s event features Tuscan wines with Tom Taylor of Worldwide Wines; March 19 spotlights the wines of Abruzzo producer Masciarelli, with Brendan Walsh of Martin Scott Wines; and March 26′s tasting is a tour of southern Italian wines with Jim Brewer of Winebow.

Cost is $28, including five wines and five small plates.
