In a post released on Facebook this evening, FX has revealed that the season for premiere of Sons of Anarchy had the most viewers of any program the network has ever aired. According to the report, the original broadcast of the episode brought in 6.5 million viewers, and with encore airings the number jumps to 9.5 million.
This means the show has beaten out other television megahits from FX, such as The Shield and Rescue Me, and it’s well deserved, in my humble opinion. When you think back to the slow start the series got off to, and how they picked up the pace to finish the first season and never looked back, this is one of the most consistent shows the network has ever produced. These numbers surely reflect the quality of the series so far, and hopefully things can only go up from here.
