Emma Stone’s boyfriend looks hot in new pics from the upcoming Spider-Man movie

These new snaps will have Tobey Maguire climbing the walls (like a spider, geddit?). Turns out Andrew Garfield can fill out Spider-Man’s lycra suit just fine.

The new film is said to be a “gritty, contemporary reboot” of the Spider-Man series, stepping away from the kid-friendly last few films which starred Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. It’s meant to be a darker interpretation of the comic book series with director Mark Webb creating a something similar in tone to Christopher Nolan’s reimagining of Batman.

The film will follow Peter Parker through his troubled teenage years with re-life girlfriend Emma Stone playing love interest Gwen Stacy rather than Mary Jane.

In an interview with Details magazine last year, Garfield (who was born in Los Angeles but moved to the UK with his family when he was three) said he’d been taking yoga and pilates lessons to prepare for the role: “I want to feel stronger than I’ve ever felt and I want to feel more flexible than I’ve ever felt. You don’t just want to be a pack of meat – it has to be an open body. It does something to your psyche and it does something to the way you move. I see it as a massive challenge in many ways…to make it authentic. To make the character live and breathe in a new way. The audience already has a relationship with many different incarnations of the character.”

We can’t bloody wait. A moody, brooding lycra-clad superhero saving the world while falling in love with his REAL-LIFE girlfriend? Amazing. Andrew, 27, started dating Emma, 23, after meeting her on set. She spoke to Access Hollywood about kissing onscreen: “There is a nice first kiss and it’s diffeernt than the upside down one [by Tobey and Kirsten]. And we liked it.”

Andrew is best known for his role as Eduardo Saverin in Oscar-winning film The Social Network while Emma last starred in The Help as Skeeter Phelan.

What an intimidatingly successful and attractive couple. We approve.
