Trash talking on “Dancing With the Stars”?

As if that’s going to rattle Hines Ward.

Rapper Romeo, frustrated that he and partner Chelsea Hightower were a scant judges’ point behind the team of the Steelers receiver and pro dancer Kym Johnson, was serving notice on Tuesday night’s broadcast in the glittery waiting area known as the Celebriquarium.

“Yo, Hines, I’m going to put Super Glue in your toothpaste if you keep smiling like that,” joked Romeo, wearing the formalwear from his dance the previous night.

It wasn’t the most convincing threat, as noted by the show’s host, Tom Bergeron.

“I think we learned that a top hat undercuts ‘tough guy.’ “

Both teams sailed into next week’s “Guilty Pleasures” themed competition. Not so fortunate was model Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin, who had the week’s lowest combined score.

On Monday, Mr. Ward and Ms. Johnson danced a rumba to “God Bless the U.S.A.”

A taped segment showed Mr. Ward stating “I am SO proud to be an American!” to which his partner, who is Australian, replied “Me too …” then laughed at his double-take before adding, “Actually, I’m not [American].”

Last night’s show featured judges’ analysis of the remaining teams.

“Hines the great, what a surprise,” said Bruno Tonioli.

Carrie Ann Inaba praised his talent but said he needs to start taking more risks.

Her colleague, Len Goodman agreed, and said “he’s got to mix that [risk-taking] with his natural ability to come out and shine, and he’s going to be awesome.”

Next week’s shows promises that rarest of reality competition hybrids: An “American Idol” on Fox crossing over to “DWTS.”

Singer Pia Toscano, who was eliminated in one of the most shocking early exits in “Idol” history two weeks ago, will be a guest performer.

Dancing while she sings will be current “DWTS” professional Mark Ballas, who reportedly is dating Ms. Toscano.

He and partner Chelsea Kane were one of three teams to score a 26 from the judges on Monday.

Ms. Toscano’s elimination might serve as a cautionary tale — unlike “DWTS,” voting in “Idol” is strictly up to the viewers now.

There is the theory that Ms. Toscano, who emerged as a front-runner in the competition, was deemed so “safe” that she didn’t need the casual viewers’ votes.

Steelers Nation, take note.
