While watching for sightings of furry-clad Anthrocon attendees in the streets of Pittsburgh today, don’t be surprised if you spot a costumed superhero, too. Bricolage theater company and the ToonSeum have joined forces with other neighbors for the Downtown Heroes Block Party in the 900 block of Liberty Avenue.

Participants are encouraged to come dressed as superheroes, but come as you are, and there will be opportunities to make masks and logos and gather free comic books during superhero-themed, family-friendly activities noon- 8 p.m.

There will be live music and folklore readings at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, directly across the street from the theater and museum. A matinee performance of Bricolage’s “Midnight Radio: Superhero Edition!” is 2-3:30 p.m. ($25 adults/$15 children). The ToonSeum’s superhero exhibit is $4 for adults; free for 12 and under or with a “Midnight Radio” ticket.
