LOS ANGELES (AP) — Harry Potter has conjured up a tidy sum from the first overseas debuts of his final film on its way to a potentially record-shattering opening weekend.
Distributor Warner Bros. says “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ took in $43.6 million in 26 countries outside the United States on its first day Wednesday.
Studio executives said Thursday the franchise finale had the biggest opening day ever in several countries, including Australia with $7.5 million, Italy with $4.6 million and Sweden with $2.1 million.

OK, so as a writer, I have an affinity for Mark Twain. I’ve been reading Twain since 10th grade, when Ms. Schideler assigned “Huckleberry Finn.” Now, my love for all things Twain has expanded to Twain’s Billiards & Tap in Decatur.
Twain’s, located in downtown Decatur, opened in 1996. It started brewing its own crafted ales 10 years later under the direction of brewmaster Jordan Fleetwood. But to say Twain’s is a brew pub or restaurant doesn’t quiet do it justice. And it’s also not just a pool hall, although there are several tables (as well as dart boards, shuffleboard tables and foosball). It just sort of

OFTEN times my “job” as a jet setting comic book journalist is a real grind…like when I get a paper cut on a near mint copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 and I bleed on the page and my blood lowers the resale value of Spidey’s first appearance by, like, $15,000. Bummer. Or when there are SO many comic book groupies trying to steal my clothes that I just DON’T know what to do, ho hum.

The man behind some of the most iconic TV comedies has died.
Sherwood Schwartz created shows like Gilligans Island and The Brady Bunch. They werent just popular.
The Brady Bunch changed the way Americans viewed women, just as shows like All in the Family dealt with bigotry in the sixties, or The Cosby Show dealt with race relations in the eighties.
In the saga of changing social views of women and girls over the past 40 years, The Brady Bunch deserves an episode of its own.

LOS ANGELES — Sherwood Schwartz, writer-creator of two of the best-remembered TV series of the 1960s and 1970s, “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Brady Bunch,” has died at age 94.
Great niece Robin Randall said Schwartz died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was being treated for an intestinal infection and underwent several surgeries. His wife, Mildred, and children had been at his side.
Sherwood Schwartz and his brother, Al, started as a writing team in TV’s famed 1950s “golden age,” said Douglas Schwartz, the late Al Schwartz’s son.
