Casual upscale dining at the Living Room Restaurant and Lounge, One Ski Hill Place in Breckenridge
The year-round playground of Breckenridge is a friendly Colorado mountain town, a little bit laid back, yet it doesn’t scrimp on its dining options. Case in point is where I recently stayed while enjoying a multigenerational family getaway, the luxury One Ski Hill Place, A RockResort, with its luxury ski-in/ski out condominiums. After unloading our family SUV and checking, our family of five was seated by the fireplace for an upscale, yet casual Breckenridge dining experience at The Living Room Restaurant and Bar.
Situated at the Breckenridge’s hub of activity, the base of Peak 8, One Ski Hill Place’s condos are just steps from the Breckenridge slopes and lifts are a few steps away and the charming town is a shuttle away. Walk out the door and access T-Bar, a lively slopeside bar and casual, cafeteria dining option in Breckenridge.
The family friendly Living Room is aptly named, tucked in a corner on the second floor of One Ski Hill Tree Place, serving breakfast (7-10 am), lunch (11am – 2pm), Apres dining (2-6pm), and dinner (5:30-10pm), with just 35 seats and a lounge with oversized sofas. The restaurant’s executive chef Travis Smith is the Colorado Chef of the year for 2010. The menu features Colorado-inspired flavors such as its pan-seared Rocky Mountain Trout or its feature the night we dined, a Colorado mixed grill – lamb, elk and pheasant (pictured below).

When in Colorado, order the filet — I’ve never been disappointed by Colorado beef or buffalo.

The Living Room Restaurant offers convenient dining for guests of One Ski Hill Tree Place. We did arrive late for our Friday night reservation, and even though seating is limited, we were promptly seated. Although the dining area didn’t appear to be that busy, our total dining experience stretched to almost two hours with some marked delays in service – 15 minutes before receiving first cocktail, nearly 40 minutes after ordering before our appetizers arrived. We might not have noticed the wait as much if we didn’t have a 4 and 6 year old and 3 very hungry adults. However, the quality and freshness of each menu item was exceptional and worth the wait. The wine list is extensive and the specialty cocktails abundant.
I’d recommend beginning your experience at the lounge with a glass of wine and an appetizer before heading to your table. The lounge seating features oversized sofas and chairs, player piano, and picture windows overlooking the all-season, year round adventures on Breckenridge “hill.”
