I am generally wary of a restaurant with a menu thick as a book, since I wonder how they can possibly create fresh and delicious meals consistently for all variety of choices that may rarely be ordered. Putting the word “factory” in your name doesn’t exactly sing homemade and tasty either. But the word “cheesecake” will always capture my attention.
The Cheesecake Factory chain with nearly 150 locations nationwide is a well-established brand. With the fanciful turret adorning the outside building, it looks like a Willie Wonka styled confectionery factory and the interior décor is a bit magical as well. A spacious bar seating area makes the inability to make reservations less of a problem, since the location nearest to me usually has a line during peak dining hours.
As opposed to letting the spiral bound booklet of a menu overwhelm me into simply ordering the same thing each time as I am wont to do, at the Cheesecake Factory I have decided that I will make may way through the menu by ordering a different dish each time until they disappoint. I’m still ordering and eating happily.
My most recent visit placed me there between lunch and dinner hours so I opted for something off of the sandwich list. The portions here are generally large enough for two – be they pasta, seafood, steak, salad or burger. The Navajo sandwich (grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion & mayo) was no different. My friend and I could have split it easily with plenty of room for dessert, but since she wanted to try the Chicken Salad (with roasted almonds, lettuce & tomato) we were on our own with our plates.
Bread can make or break a sandwich, and the selections for both of our choices were delicious. Mine came on fry bread that was soft and thick, helping to keep that slippery avocado in check. Hers came on grilled brioche that was just crispy enough and may have had a hint of garlic, though she couldn’t be sure.
We both opted to pay the extra $1 for the Sweet Potato Fries and after giving them the sans-ketchup test, both proclaimed them to be yummy and worth the cost.
It being a hot afternoon, I splurged for the Peach Smoothie which was not only a thing of beauty, but incredibly refreshing and most definitely peachy. Made with peaches, juice and swirled raspberry, I expected nothing less.
We had a wonderfully leisurely late lunch and were never rushed or pestered. We took our time perusing the famous cheesecake menu and placed our to-go orders. I had specifically intended to get a slice of the Original Cheesecake to bring home for my husband since he favors the classics. But I got so wrapped up in that scrumptious looking photo of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake that I lost all of my senses and completely forgot about anything else. Not to worry. The slices are so mammoth that there was plenty to share. The perfection that is the Reese’s blended in with the richness of that Cheesecake Factory specialty dessert is honestly to die for. If you don’t have a location near you, you can order up a cheesecake of your choosing right online and have it delivered to your door.
I’ll keep happily making my way through their menu of real food. But I refuse to get past that Reese’s Cheesecake. I’m sure their other varieties are just as delicious – but you’ll have to try them for yourself to be sure.
